Aim:
To make young people understand that truth is something that is inherent in all, and very important for all life to exist in the world. To understand the importance of integrity.
Introduction:
Truth is not just about not telling lies. It is in the inherent power within all things. Truth is the power with which the heart beats and the lungs breathe. When we say 'fire burns', that is the truth that we never change. However to discover and believe that 'man is immortal' is an ultimate spiritual truth. It is to discover this Truth we are placed on earth.
Truth encompasses many associated values too, such as Integrity. We should be confident and believe in our conscience (Truth) so wholeheartedly that we maintain balance and an equal outlook on life. To demonstrate the difference in outlooks, take the example of a man standing at a bus stop. His boss drives a fast sports car. He takes one look, and says to the man standing besides him, 'That’s my boss. He shouldn't be allowed to travel in such style...he should be standing with me at the bus stop!' However, the other guy, sees another sports car, this time with his boss in the driving seat. he turns around to the first man and says, 'See, that’s my boss...one day I am going to be as successful as he is!'. These are different outlooks of life. Look into the inherent YOU. Behave as a spark of the Divine, the TRUE you.
A thief was convinced by a hold man to adhere to truth. A short tie later, during a burglary of the Kings palace, the thief was confronted by another man. He invited his new companion to share in the spoils of the royal treasury. After emptying the vaults, they parted company, leaving behind a sole diamond for the bereaved king. The thief’s companion asked him where he lived, to which the thief had to reply truthfully.
The following day, the break-in was discovered by the royal minister, and the king convened and inquiry. The king accused the royal minister of theft of the single diamond - for the king had been the companion of the truthful thief. The thief was appointed as a new minister and his adherence to truth and justice be came noted in the land.
If we adhere to truth, we will be saved. truth protects and promotes the welfare of its adherents. If we hold fast to truth we serve our own best interests.
'Have faith that truth will save you in he long run. Stick to it regardless of what might befall.'
- Sri Sathya Sai Baba
